JEFF W. BAK
President, Chief Executive Officer
Jeff has spent 20 years in the insurance, reinsurance and healthcare services industry. Jeff joined HealthPlan Services in January 1995 and served in various sales and business development leadership positions. In May of 1999, he became President and Chief Operating Officer while spearheading all operations of HealthPlan Services, Inc. Then in 2000, Jeff led the buy-out of HPS, ABPA and Montgomery Management. In 2001, he was named President and CEO of HPH and has presided over the company's consistent revenue and earnings growth.
Jeff began his career with Dun & Bradstreet in 1989 as a sales management trainee. In 1992 he left to work as a reinsurance broker with Peglar & Associates, a boutique reinsurance intermediary, in Stamford, Connecticut through 1994. Jeff is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned a B.S. in Business in 1989 and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University in 1999.
ARTHUR T. SCHULTZ
President and Chief Executive Officer, ABPA
Before rejoining HealthPlan Holdings in February of 2001, Art was Senior Vice President at My Way Health in Oakland,CA, an internet-enabled health care start-up company where he contracted to partner with founders of companies to establish strategic focus and develop product offerings.
From 1998 to 2000, Art was a consultant at Arbella Mutual Insurance Company, the second largest property and casualty insurer in Massachusetts with 1000 employees. Art was employed at HealthPlan Services from 1996 to 1998 as Executive Vice President. This position resulted from the acquisition of Consolidated Group, Inc. where he was a minority owner and Chief Operation Officer from 1986 to1996. Consolidated Group was, at the time, one of the largest privately held, third party administrators with an employee base of 750. He also served during this same period of time as President of Consolidated Group Claims, a wholly owned subsidiary of CGI with 250 employees.
ANNE MARIE FARIA
Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer
Anne Marie began working with HealthPlan Services in 2001.She has extensive experience developing new manufacturing and distribution network relationships. She has created agency distribution networks that use a common platform service model to distribute products such as Health, Life, DI, LTC and other employee-benefit products suited for the individual and small business marketplace. Prior to working with HPS, Anne Marie began her career at New England Financial (NEF) in 1974. Over her 26-year career, she has managed a variety of organizations including: Human Resources, Small Business Marketing and Sales, the Small Group Health Program and most recently Product Management for Life, Annuity, Long-Term Care, Disability and Group Insurance. Anne Marie worked closely with HPS during her tenure at NEF. She retired from NEF in Fall 2000.
Stephen M. Saft
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer
Steve has over 15 years of experience in healthcare services with with broad general management, strategic planning, operations, and financial management expertise. Prior to joining Healthplan Services, Steve served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of CCS Medical, a leading provider of medical supplies. He also served as a member of the Office of the President. Previously Steve served as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Priority Healthcare Corporation, a Fortune 1000 company that distributed and managed biopharmaceutical therapies.
Steve was previously employed by Deloitte & Touche LLP, an international accounting firm and was a senior manager in the National Health Care and Life Science Practice. He was also employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, an international accounting firm.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Accounting from the University of Florida and is a Certified Public Accountant.
James Vertino
Chief Information Officer
Jim has more than 17 years of experience in all aspects of IT management and development. Prior to joining HPS, Jim served as Vice President of Systems and Technology and acting CIO for CareSource, where he was responsible for directing all aspects of the formation and execution of the healthcare IT corporate strategy.
Previous positions include Vice President of Enterprise Technology for MetLife, where he orchestrated the development, implementation, maintenance and support of the domestic emerging technology infrastructure. He also served as Vice President and Chief Administration Officer of Equity Technologies at Lehman Brothers and Project Manager for Dun & Bradstreet.
Jim graduated magna cum lade from Medaille College in Buffalo, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He is a member of the Managed Care Executive Group (MCEG), Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) and Dayton Area CIO Council.
